Frequently Asked Questions

Are your sessions confidential?

Yes, everything you tell me during counselling is completely confidential. As with all counsellors, the only time I would have to make an exception would be if there were a threat to your well-being or the well-being of others.

How many counselling sessions will I need?

Everyone’s needs are individual and within our first few sessions I may be able to give you an idea of how long we should spend working together. I see short-term clients for as few as six weeks, and long-term clients for 12 weeks or more.

What if I can’t get to your counselling practice?

I offer Skype counselling as well as face-to-face. Contact me to arrange an appointment over Skype.

What hours are you available?

Monday to Friday, 9.30am - 4.00pm

What is your cancellation policy?
  • Sessions unattended or cancelled with less than 24 hours will incur the full session fee.
  • Sessions unattended or cancelled with less than 48 hours notice will incur half the session fee.
How do I know if I am making progress in therapy?
  1. Your moods and emotions have improved
  2. Your thinking has shifted
  3. Your behaviours have changed
  4. Your relationships with others are better
  5. You have better life satisfaction
  6. You feel like your therapist gets you
  7. Your energy levels increase steadily.
  8. You don't dread your sessions (maybe you even look forward to them, however sometimes things get worse for a bit)
  9. Your symptoms change
How do you know if your therapist is good for you?

A good therapist is someone who listens to you, wants what's best for you, communicates well, checks in with you, stays informed, doesn't judge you, feels like an ally, and earns your trust.
